The 150's already have diesels - just not sure of the release date yet , but there here.. I think there 4.3 L 's if I recall, maybe a little bigger , but not much.

Yea Roush is right down the road from you and there hiring - they need a sleigh driver .. Haha , nah , they need a parts runner .. If you can drive a stick and pass a drug screen ... , Your in!!.. Awesome bene's !!

Problem is that a diesel is approx a 5k option on a 250. Whats the cost going to be on a 150? 30k for an XLT + 4400 for a diesel = 250 territory.

Also, the new EPA "stuff" is hurting diesel power and efficiency. How to re-engineer diesels to maintain their power/efficiency is still being worked on. Diesels are going through what gas engines did back when the cat was added in the 70s. Remember late 70s big V8s only getting 150 hp? Took 20 years to beat that.

There was alot of crazy crap on those engines, designed to do one thing.
lower emissions. it was terible.
had a 79 camaro 350, changed the intake and put headers on it .
big difference. would do 145 on radar.
16 second 1/4. yea 243 to 1

those were good times also just had to work around the bs

A diesel would be nice but the price of diesel is about 60 cents higher than 87 octane here in western Wisconsin. If the price would go down and we know it would stay down it would be worth it, but that seems unlikely. The price has been killing farmers who have to put it in their tractors and semi's for combining and hauling corn.

Not sure.

If it's just for a people hauler, then I can find a diesel VW or Mercedes that will get better fuel mileage than a 1/2-ton truck. I shudder when I think of buying a Euro vehicle, to boot...

If I need a truck to haul serious loads on a near daily basis, it's not going to be an F-150.

$3.40 per gal with diesel vs. 2.70ish when my v6 SCab gets solid MPGs...I'd have to feel like throwing money away, but that's just me right now.

What would this truck do that a lower end F-250 can't? Where does this fit into the current market?

Not hatin' on the idea, just wondering.

lets think a F-250 gets about 20 MPG city and like 25 MPG highway. if you take away some of the weght going from a 3/4 ton to a 1/2 ton youd get alot better gas mileage and then if you wanted to tow youd have the power there. diesels always get better gas mileaged unless your beatin on it hard or towing alot.. diesels are alot easyer to mod too. because most of them if you get a bully dog programmer you add 150HP and 160 FT lbs. *they claim that but still*. and if its gonna be a 4.4L it should be able to move a 1/2 ton truck no prob. *is this a inline 6 or a v6 or v8??* donno much about the 2009. if its an inline 6 its gonna be a torque monster!!. not hatin on you just answerin your question...if you cant tell i < 3 diesels

I have never seen a calculated case of a 250 getting 25 mpg. My 7.3 2wd would get 18 at 75. Now if you slowed down they may get in the 20's but then so would our current F150 and 25 is a lot to ask for a truck of that size and weight. However a smaller diesel would tend to get in the 20's. I would assume that the F150 diesel would shoot for 25 mpg.

Diesel is going up because they have to refine it more for the ULSD requirements (ultra low sulfer diesel). Also the new 6.4 says something about 10-15k between oil changes.
