Lightining cylinder heads

Will lightning cylinder heads and cams do anything for my truck. also will the stock manifold bolt to the heads. I don't have the supercharger, but i got the heads sitting in my garage so i figured i would bolt it on if its worth it.

I might go get them ported and polished then put them it.

I just want to make sure that im not wasting money.

My truck is a 2000 5.4 liter

There the same as the heads you have now!
Have them ported and put a performance cam in.
Then it will be worth it.

Are u serious... a guy at ford told me that they were totally different heads. From what i have heard it was just different crank rods and pistons. I was a little skeptical when he said heads. I would like to get a set of used heads and build um up. Also get some deeper threads for the spark plugs, I've had 2 of them blow out on me. What about 3 valve heads would they be worth it? Can i even do that with the computer?

I would stick with working with the heads you have now. For the amount of money it would be cheaper this way instead of going with the 3V heads.

If memory serves me correctly in late 02 they came out with the head that had more threads on them to correct the spark plug issue. ( but don't quote me on this )

call vt engines, boss 330 racing, steen racing, or mmr. they will steer you in the right direction when it comes to heads and head porting. i wouldn't just bolt a set of used heads.

the only thing different in a lightning is the pistons. Lightning heads are SOHC, just like all sohc 4.6 and 5.4's

The best bang for your buck, read the easiest, would be to purchase a set of ported heads and cams. The likes of this: http://www.foxlakeracing.com/mod2.php

Absolutely not, they are the exact same as regular 2v heads. As a matter of fact, ALL the PI heads whether 4.6, 5.4, Mustang, F150, Lightning, etc.. use the same casting and cams. The only real differences are that heads from the Romeo engine plant have a different number of valve cover bolts than engines from the Windsor engine plant and, as mentioned, there was a running change to add more threads to the spark plug holes.

Ya well i got a 2000 I'm thinking i will have to rebuild the engine soon. I got a built 4r100 sitting in the garage that i have been waiting to bolt to a block. I don't need 1000 horses just enough to tow my boat, and to scare the average ricer once and a while. I have experienced the spark plug problem twice now. It costs $300 every time that i have one pop out Im starting to think $300 X 8 = $1600 thats about the cost of new heads.
