Angry lost 1 thru 4

I have an 05 F150 4x4 with the 5.4. I lost 1 thru 4 and the dealer says it is complete failure and they will put a remanufactured 5.4 in it but I can get a better price on a 5.4 jasper. Has anyone had this problem and should I go with the jasper? Please help

Angry lost 1-4

Dead cylinders. 1 thru 4 showing dead and not firing. The dealership will not even pull it apart they said it just needs a new motor.

Damn, I'm sorry man.

So, the impression I am getting is, this is going to be on your own dime. Am I right or wrong?

If, this is on your dime, go with jasper, if, !IF! I stress, you get a warranty. I guess it really all depends on what you want, and, the uses for your truck. I am not experienced with the 5.4, but, am looking to invest for my next truck. I am sure many more opinions will flow through eventually, this is just my 2 cents.

You got my vote. Good luck!!!

sounds like there is something seriously wrong

I'd get a remanufactured short block and then some ported heads since it's apart anyway

Cylinders 1-4 not firing is an electronics issue, not a mechanical issue. The engine would not require replacement for plugs not firing. There has to be more.... a lot more to this than what you have stated for the engine to need replacing.

yeah they are going to put a new engine in and still have 1-4 gone unless they replace everything or atleast find the problem first...

If I were psying for it I would get a second opinion. If Ford is paying for it I would take the new engine. If they wont give you specifics and your paying for it it really sounds like you got a stealer dealer..

Yea , definitely find out why??? If you get a reman , I would go with a Ford - I've heard that dealerships have used Jasper and needed to replace the Jasper engine 3 times before getting one to work..I have a Ford reman - replaced in 2000 and it has 230,000 on it..

Hope that helps..
