Most common failure - COP #4 . Caused by a minute leak in the heater core line.
The MOST COMMON cause of random and multiple misfire codes with a COP'ed motor ...... Is people washing them. Don't listen to people saying it's alright . It's a complete set up!!!

I've seen and heard of so MANY people going thru problems in the past because of this.

BTW - these are modular motors - NOT aircraft engines. I hope your never responsible for the injury or death of anyone flying something you sabotaged in the future..Hence the name "CRASH"

Ignition systems and H2O will never get along with one another..

What ever happened to just taking a rag out there once a month and wiping it down. Sure, it takes time and patients, but, you perform a monthly check of your engine and components and you have no worries about water screwing up your system.

Just my thoughts.

YES, SIR!!!!

I read the very first thread ever posted. I myself would be pissed as much as you were, and, still are!!!! You have ever reason to be pissed!

I have just seen the thread being fought with people wondering if water is a bad or good thing to put on your motor.

I, myself, would have had the cops called, before I left the shop, to get my engine cleaned, or at least a reputible shop cleaning it, on the garages expense. If they felt like they were not responsible, well, we would take it up in court. I would sue them for every last socket they had in the shop.

I agree with you 100%, BRO!!

This is the absolute reason I do. EVERYTHING MYSELF!!!!!!

BUT I DO AGREEE WITH YOU 100%

Yeah complete set up.
My truck has 113K on it now, It was built on 6/2000 and has had its engine cleaned many times in those 7 years. I do not soak the COPs. I use common sense. Modular engines can get wet and work just fine. For every story of a bad wash we can give you one of a good wash. Just use your brains when you wash it and you will be fine.

You right NORM , I should of just said it was completely Ignorant.

What the hell are you going to get clean without getting the COP's wet?

How in the hell can this be done with a power washer.

Common sense ? Why take the chance ? Keep doing what your doing , your not always going to be so lucky - make sure you post up when you ******* it up..

Believe what you like. I do not use a power washer. I use common sense.
There are thousands of people who wash their F-150 engines. The people with clean engines probably out number the dirty ones. Never saw a dirty one at any of the truck shows or race days I frequent.
Yes bad things can happen if you are not careful but some people act like it is a guarantee that it will go wrong. It is not. Many people on this very site have given instructions on how to safely clean the engine. Use the search tool if you wish.:santa:

Not a big deal if you have a pressure washer. I've done under the hood of my 68 Bird, yes it's fancy, when it gets too dusty without any problems. And I hit everything I buy under the hood with un-diluted ZEP Industrial Purple and rinse for that new car/truck clean. Just don't flood it with a garden hose. BTW the anti- freeze will not evaporate and smell like burning crap if you don't do something about it.
