Disconnecting the throttle cable

I have a 2003 F150 5.4L FX4 XLT. I need to know how to disconnect the throttle cable in order to remove the accelerator pedal. I am swapping out the original non adj. pedal assembly to the adj. assembly. thanks!

Disconnect the spring [#3] and hold the part that cables are attached too and move the cables [1 & 2]toward the firewall. Should then pop off but may need a little help from a screwdriver. If you only need some slack, just disconnect the spring.

Is there a way to disconnect it at the pedal's end rather than the engine's? Just wondering, because that would be so much easier than disconnecting it at the motor and yanking the bastard all the way out through the pedal...
