Air Filter?

Hey guys Iam new but I read more than I post. I have an 05 F150 super cab with the 5.4 3v engine. Just picked it up not to long ago and just started playing around with it. I noticed the truck is a little slugish, well I checked the air filter and it prob never has been changed it has 40k miles. So I took it out and drove it with nothing in there what a difference. Iam going to order an intake for my truck tonight can I drive with out the air filter in till I get the intake?

i love it. it has been amazing. it got much better acceleration with it on. helped alot when i switched tire sizes. if you are looking to get one. www.troyerperformance.com
is the best place to get one, and they give site members a discount

deff. go with the AF1. my friend has the K&N on his truck, and its just not as cool. the polished tube on the AF1 really makes the engine look nice. do you have a tuner?

well it depends. a tuner will give you the most performance. it what people normally get first.im not one of those ppl, i still dont have one.lol the reason i ask is because there are two different size AF1's. there is a 3" and a 3.5". the 3.5" tends to cause you to run lean if you dont have a tuner.

K&N makes a kit with a polished aluminum intake pipe (series 77) I have one on my truck and its hard to say if it made any difference because I did that and a Troyers Xcal2 at about the same time and the tunner made a big difference...for the money that is the cheapest most effective HP out there!
But back to intakes. I have heard alot about the AF1, and they are supposed to be the best, but I went with the K&N because It looks almost the same as the AF1 and the K&N was about 100 bucks cheaper.

if you just drive around the city and wont be racking up the miles till you get your aftermarket one you'll be fine just don't leave it out for an extended period of time
