IMRC Help
Octane boosters are good for a couple of points at best - you can boost 6 points right at the pump by buying 93 instead of 87 - which I HIGHLY recommended to help prevent preignition damage till this can be sorted out. The extra 20 cents a gallon for 93 is a lot less than the cost of booster that works. The purpose of a booster is to get vehicles that ping on 93 to stop pinging, not to help people with 87.
Well, I threw in a full tank of 93 octane gas, cost me a small fortune at 25.3 gallons... but there is no change in the engine performance as far as the pinging.
I have no clue.. I am battling a bad case of Strepthroat, and I haven't been on that much... it really sucks... in fact, I haven't been able to call Ford because my voice is so bad. I hope to get better by the end of the week.

bad Imrc
I had a bad Imrc valve. My engine didn't ping. It had no power. My engine light never came on. When I purchased my camper it wouldn't tow (no power). Top speed was 45 mph. on flat highways. I purchased xcal2,siso exhaust, AF1 3.5. I took it troyer prof to get it dynoed, and they thought my IMRC was not opening, but was not 100% sure. So I took it to another dealer, they took it out for a test drive, never made it out of the parking lot and realized no power. When I called them, there is definite problem but not sure what the problem was?? They had it for 2 weeks finally realized bad IMRC. IMRC was seized. I guess its a flapper that opens when you need more power, mine wouldnt open.
In the beginning I had been complaining about this problem of no power at a local Ford dealership. they could not find anything wrong. I was getting my oil change there and I complain over and over. So thats when I bought the xcal2 kit. Then I took it to a 2nd dealership and they discovered the problem, even took them 2 weeks
If it's still pinging on 93, you have a REAL problem. If they keep screwing you around, take it out and wind the **** out of it till the pinging blows the engine. Run it flat on the floor in 2nd gear on the Interstate keeping it right at the rev limiter, it won't take long to blow if it's constantly pinging.
