By the way both trucks had only about 50K KM on them.
I will check again but now Ford wants you remove and inspect the plugs at
50K Km (can you say never sieze) and replace them at 75K KM. They change those values constantly
Hope this helps
does the 03 5.4 have this problem????

First kill the bolded text, please & thank-you.

Now, the 03 5.4, depending on casting date for the head, either had the original crappy 4-thread head, which required a lot of care in plug R&R to keep them from blowing out, or they have a full 8 thread hole, in which case it's pretty much bulletproof, as long as reasonable care is used in R&R.

This extended plug is unique to 3V heads only - that in 04+ F150's, new MGT's and new V10's.

So if the OK.. OK..
Air cleaner says 3V I pretty much have
an easy job replacing the plugs??
The truck KR I want has 108K miles at
a ford dealer, and maybe I should negotiate
him changing plugs before I purchase it.

Good idea. Not an easy job without full preparation, especially at that mileage.

They are due to be changed in any case, even with Ford's retarded chage interval spec.

Good luck.

Click on the link. Then click on Register Now. When the next screen opens, select videos on the top menu. Go to episode 26 and you're good to go.

This is exactly why I plan on taking it in to the Ford Dealer for my next plug change. Too much of a hassle to do it yourself, not worth it

If you're on a network talk to your network administrator.
There maybe some adjustments to make to your firewall

No, Tumba - review all the posts, the procedure to get past that is already posted. It's not anything wrong.

Got a call from the Ford Tech today at Ricart, they didnt have the TSB tool as recommended for removing broken plugs, so they had to go to 3 other Ford Dealers around to get it... They did and they got my 1st broken plug out. Tomorrow they are going after the other 7 plugs which have been soaking for 2 days now. However I talked to the tech today and they didnt know that breaking them free 1/8 of a turn would allow the pen. solvent to seap into the threads so I had to tell them.
Hopefully that ll fix it. I still dont plan to pay more then I was quoted LOL... We ll see how that goes.

I know exactly what you are talking about - and you have not read the whole thread. The EXACT click sequence to get past that is posted. It has NOTHING to do with ANY firewall or network restrictions.

Then click on Register Now. When the next screen opens, select videos on the top menu. Go to episode 26 and you're good to go.
I'm only gonna call you on something when you are totally talking out your @$$ and when I do and you give me chit, I'm gonna shovel it right back at ya.

EDIT: Madcat, I think it may be time for you to find another dealer - they don't have the tool, they don't know the procedure.........that's just incompetence. It's not like 5.4 3V engines are rare.

After reading that, I'd have told them to STOP, and just tow my truck to a dealer who actually knew what they were doing. Nuts.
