Efan key on and Thread in type temp sensor

I bought my fan and my controller, but I need to tap into an ignition source.
What's the best source for that do you think?
Also, it came with a screw in type temp sensor, which I heard is much better than the radiator type. I don't know where I should put that, but someone told me to put it in the hose right in front of the thermostat.
Any better ideas?

The output of the fuel pump relay. It's only hot when the engine is spinning. This is the circuit I'm putting in my Bronco - no "controller".

No, the sensor shouldn't be on the upper radiator hose. It should be on the hose going OUT to the heater (from the R rear head) as close to the engine as possible.

Thanks!!!!
I'm not too good with the wiring diagram, but i'll see if i can't find the fuel pump relay or a picture of it or something.
As for the heater line, shoot, that's going to be a big pain to get to, any reason it has to be there instead of in the other coolant lines coming out of the motor?
I know it's because the t-stat doesn't open until a certain temperature, but shouldn't it open BEFORE the fan turns on anyways? So therefore, the tstat opens and then goes through the radiator, cooling the motor, and once THAT warms up to a certain temp the fan turns on. This is how I thought it was supposed to work.
Any ideas on this? Oh, and do i have to just get another nut and pinch them on the hose, they only gave me one...

The owner's manual should ID the FP relay in the engine bay fuse block. The output wire is DG/Y.

I'm putting mine on the heater hose, but if you want yours to work that way, you can put it on the upper rad. hose, or even in the radiator fins.

I have no idea what you mean by pinching a nut on your hose, but it sounds painful.

LMAO, Steve !!!

I think the OP is figgering to puncture a HOLE in the rad hose and insert the business end of the probe, with the two nuts to seal it.

OP - if that's the case, DON'T !

Do as Steve recommends - and use an appropriate brass T / barbed fittings to insert into the heater hose.

Old thread, but does anyone have pictures of where they installed the screw in type temp sensor?
