Stutter @ WOT

could be engine related, if tranny it can only be torque converter.

most cases hard acceleration is fine and crisp as a new twenty. on occasion it stutters and the rps will lock about 2300 though i got it to lock at a lil over 3000 as well. which is what is making me think its not the tranny.

likely causes i can think of are:
needs a tune up (bad plugs or wires)
fuel filter clogged
maf sensor dirty/ air filter nasty

i will be doing plugs, wires, fuel and air filters tomorrow. and likely cutting up the factory airbox.

any other suggestions would be helpful, thanks.

Along with doing the things your plan on doing I would recommend cleaning the two EGR ports in the throttlebody elbow. If you are not sure about the EGR ports do a search, plenty of info about it and a very common problem on the 4.6.

ive searched like 30 pages of threads, i cant find the post youre talking about pertaining to cleaning the EGR. basicly i shoot it up with carb cleaner?

also if you're feeling kind point me toward the fuel filter location, might save me some time. thx

the odd thing over is i have no codes. just this weirdness at WOT. Today i put in the small bottle of lucas fuel treatment did the tranny and engine as well with a lucas treatment and the problem seems severely lessened. I drove the truck about 40 miles today so i know the fuel treatment worked its way through a little bit anyways. My truck does stumble a little bit at idle, but its so slight if you dont sit under the hood with the hood open for 5 mins you probibaly wont notice it. but i will likely take off the TB and EGR and clean them. seems to me alot of trouble could be solved with a can of sea foam here.

sounds like fuel pressure drop off. Change your fuel filter.
