Power Steering Pump

I just replaced my power steering pump along with the pulley. When I went to bleed the system so there was no air I followed the directions out of the Haines manual. When i started it the power steering ran fine (I had the front off the ground). There was no noises or anything coming from the pump. I let it run for about 10 min and then dropped it on the ground to take it for a test drive. As soon as I got around the corner I had NO power steering at all. I might have air in the line but i was wondering if you guys had any suggestions. thanks in advace

To bleed the system you need to turn the wheels from lock to lock till the air is bled out. Why was the pump replaced in the first place?

Well i did turn them lock to lock after the install. I also made sure there was enough fluid in there so it wouldnt let air in that way. The reason the pump was replaced in the first place was because it was leaking fluid. I jacked up the front end and noticed the fluid was leaking out from behind the pulley on the actual pump.

Check the connections for leaks and the hoses leading to the pump. A leak in the low pressure line to the pump will allow air to enter the system. Don't forget the cooler in front of the rad on the driver side.

Alright thanks for the help. I am going to try and bleed the whole system tomorrow and see if anything helps.

And yes I have the belt on...

Did you use a Ford or aftermarket pump?
