5.4 engine problem
5.4 engine problem
I was driving my truck today when all of a sudden the engine started knocking really bad. It sounds like crap to its really loud in the engine compartment. when i opened the hood it smelled like smoke but i didnt see any. Ive been having i little trouble when it rains it misfires real bad once and then is fine. I drove it a couple of blocks back to my parking lot and shut it off. It died twice at stop signs unless i put it in neutral. Anyone had these problems before. Thanks a lot I dont know a lot about engines i know the components and how to do general maintence just not a lot of diagnosis. I just want to know what it could be before i take it to the ford dealer.
Possible Solution to F150 Knock/Miss
I suggest looking at the rear spark plug on the passenger side. Some 5.4 engines have blown out spark plugs due loose and only 3 threads holding it there. Gene

Its at the rear of the engine sounds and runs terrible i hate this truck when it runs like this i have had to replace the plugs and coils more times than i can count. Im really getting sick of all the problems with this engine. It seems like after i get one thing fixed with it i have to fix another thing. How do the newer 3v engines run do they have the same problems. Thanks for the help how much does it cost to get those plugs replaced if that is the problem.
