5.4 question

do these motors knock on start up. i have a 99 150 with 5.4,I use 5w20 motorcraft oil and filter. My dad has 94 Mark 8 and it does same thing at start up. thanks

mine ticks at cold startup
then kind of go away
i think if u use synthetic it ll help that problem
is the oil 5w30?

Mine has done this since new. Most likely its piston slap. If you do search for it you will find lots of info on it.

yeah... normal, dont worry about it as long as it goes away after a minute or so
