Yah , was just joking around about racing 4six's - never have - I haven't seen one up were we usually race . That's usually full of old muscle cars that run "Hillstech Drive" but anyone can get in line. The Police come and break that up sometimes , then we shoot over to another spot "Beck Road".

Some guys actually trailer there cars in which has been a BIG mistake in the past, there the ones who get the tickets if there unloaded..

Anyway , just 5fours in the 150's or Diesels in the 250's that run (there freakin fast)- you see a few ricers here and there , there really not welcome . There was a big brawl a few years back and one of the guys had a jack handle stuck 6" into his back(Mike) he was okay luckley- that was the worst I've seen it get. It's a big three state and people just don't like the communists round here - so yea, ricers don't come around. I see them pull up once in awhile, but there run off purdy quick. It's a good time for the most part.

The noise is tolerable now - I was running one cat behind the Y and now have two HF Magnaflows into a 22" X4 Magnaflow muffler . SISO straight thru muffler that is the biggest Magnaflow makes. I don't know who ever said Magnaflows are quiet , but I disagree, mine has never been all that quiet.

I'll get some pics of my setup posted and I can't believe how much difference those headers in combination with the rest of the setup has made.

This is still my favorite vid, it's never sounded better - http://picasaweb.google.com/jbrew393...40433327124514

Thanks - I have had more low end in the past - I'm not sure what the deal is there. Right after installing my transgo kit I could get rubber in second. The tranny is old and has more miles on it than the motor does - around 250 thousand , so I bet I'm not getting all the power to the ground anymore.

Yea , the exhaust upgrade made a huge difference..It sure was a PITA not having a welder AND torches on the install. Definitely need the right tools for this one. Although it's possible to do without that stuff as I just did - BUT, Mannn , It royally sucked !!!.........

An update and info on the header/new exhaust install .

I have two HF's installed behind the Y now . Before adding the second I had a check engine light come on. I didn't hook anything up to find out what code came up - I just added the second converter and now it's been about 5 drive cycles later and NO MIL has come on. I figured that's what it was. Troyer says you need 2 highflows installed to take the place of the four factory cats.

The truck really puts you back in the seat compared to before. BUT , I personally have a complaint about it. It doesn't sound as good when driven normally ? As much as I HATE to say this - it sounded better with the Flowmaster @ normal take offs ...- Mannn, than hurt to say.. That's the only area tho - cruising speeds are much better along with WOT . I'm just going to miss the old take off GT sound effects ..

Oh Well, can't have everything it looks like. Overall - it was worth it ..

great to hear! I'm going to get an X pipe because my engine makes my exhaust twice as loud, and the drone is crazy...

Yea , I'm surprised how loud mine is with the two cats and 22" maggy - But I don't get any drone.

One thing I noticed about the long tubes is if you have the slightest motor noises, you can hear them crawling under while its running thru the long tubes. I can here just a faint ticking sound on both and there not leaking.

So an X-Pipe will tame her a bit? I watched last vid - mann that's just amazing to me. The last time I heard a motor sound similar to that was when I was working at the test track in Dearborn MI - they were goofing around with Lightnings and SVT's . You really could here the wynn over the motor sounds in them things.

I wonder what they do to quiet them down ?

If I'm not mistaken, you have MORE than just a lightning - it's a built lightning correct?

Guys, the X-Pipe should really help quiet it down!! I know after i installed mine i amazed at how quiet it was after. It also sounds much more even after it is installed. I was so pissed at how quiet it was that i just cut everything off after the mufflers. Now it's too loud but oh well

Faster that X muffler looks like a nice product but i don't know of anyone running it on here?? If you get it find the shortest one you can.

What do you have to do ? Eliminate the Y completely - make it a true dual into an X pipe into a dual mufflers or a dual inlet single out? Or a dual setup into an "X" muffler . Damn , that's allot of work.

The next time my ambition peaks with my exhaust system - I may think about it .. I had my fill of fun with it for now

Nice job on the exhaust.
If you don't mind my asking.... 2 questions;
Where do you race? P.M. or e-mail me for that one.
Where did you get the headers?

Thanks

Did the x pipe hurt the performance at all? I would think it would improve it the performance balancing the cylinder banks. It seems counter intuitive to me that the x pipe would quiet the exhaust down.

the X pipe will help you out down low and at mid. Wont hurt you anywhere.

The X-Pipe will help power. The gains you would only be able to tell on a dyno. It does not improve the power enough to feel. Ya i'm not sure why it is more quiet with the X either but i could tell as soon as i started it.
Here is a little more info on it...

IMHO The object of an X pipe is to even out the pulses between the left and right banks while improving the velocity of the exhaust gases. When you have a Y pipe you are restricting this flow unless it is of a large enough diameter at the outlet side to not slow down the flow. If you run an x pipe into a DI/SO exhaust you are in effect installing a restriction back into the system.
