Good job jbrew, got me wanting to do mine too. I am, but I'm thinking long tubes along with a procharger and maybe a few engine upgrades (head gaskets) and some tranny work. I've gotta finish my old Galaxie first, then maybe I won't need another fast vehicle..........ya right!

Gotta ask, how was taking the old stuff off? I worry about snapping the ex. manifold studs off (heavily rusted) as you well know with our salty winters. It looks easy enough, is it? I'm kinda leaning toward the Dynatech's with cats etc and leaving my si/so JBA exhaust. Just thaught to myself, should be easier if I'm planning to remove the heads for head gaskets, my bad.

I finally found clamps that don't leak - You have to gut a 3.8L to find them - but there primeau - There to the left in the photo - Yup!! CR Caps and the shims snap right on pipe and hold themselves - makes it easy to bolt up

Here's a vid that wasn't worth posting earlier - prolly still isn't -

My Dad was in the auto parts business and sold Hastings filters back in the 50s. They were the best filter made back then.

Yea , I bought a Pro- Charger from ebay @ 1/2 price about 2 years ago. Never installed it because my tranny started slipping pretty bad at the time.

I sold the blower and was going to get a trans for it . Then I flushed my trans and added Amsoil and rear end friction modifier to it. The slipping gradually went away. I took the trans apart a second time and put a transgo kit in it. I had no problems after that..

My exhaust flange bolts rusted down to a pencil leads thickness on one side and broke eventually. I had to fix those at one time, but my manifold to head bolts were stainless type , they came loose with a small ignition wrench - had no problems with those. Ford installed stainless bolts on my new motor install - late 2000 after my 98 motor blew under warranty..

You might have the stainless type - You can't tell from the outside, mine looked like hell , but they came right out no problem..

It's very easy to strip out the head threads - Two were stripped on mine , one on each side. I had to bump them up to 3/16. Watch for shavings when you remove the old studs from the heads, there should only be a little - I suggest cleaning the holes out real good and test fit the header bolts you'll be using with a spacer that's the same thickness of the header flange and torque to spec first.

Also , my EGR nut completly broke off - I got a new tube, nut - everything I needed to get that hooked up from another member on these forums. You might have a problem there - mine was rusted bad - I installed a new brass fitting into the header to recieve the EGR nut -

Lastly, use that Permatex High Heat with Copper - Sensor Safe. I can't say enough about that stuff , as hot as it gets down there , it doesn't seem to effect that stuff - It's awesome!!
