5.4 3v

I had a carfax done on my pickup a little while ago and it said that I have a 5.4 SOHC with 3 valves. my pickups manufactured date says April of 1999. My question is did ford have the 3 valve engines then or is this maybe not the original engine. Also just for curiosity do these engines use timing belts or timing chains? Thanks for the help.

you have a 5.4 sohc 2v. Carfax just has a misprint. the 3v didn't come out until the 2004 redesign. Even if someone did an engine swap, carfax wouldn't know or care. The mod motors have timing chains.

I had a couple of mistakes in a carfax report on our expedition. I emailed them and after a couple of weeks they made the changes no questions asked.
