running lean
running lean
some people say with a CAI and the edge it makes your engine run lean, is that true what can i do to prevent that from happening, i honestly dont know if i am having the problem, because i am not sure what it would do if it was running lean
thanks
thanks
what year are you? do you have the newer body style king ranch, or the older one? if the older, you have the 2 valve engine, (you'd be ok...) however, if you have the newer body style, and the 3 valve engine, you were probably running a little lean from the factory, and a CAI would only compound this problem moreso, which MAY RESULT IN PERMANENT ENGINE DAMAGE! do a thread search, this topic has already been covered exhaustively by people who know more than I do...

ok thank you very much, i have the 2001 5.4l and its doing good so far i am just trying to tweak my edge with all the custom tunes to get good performance, i will sacriface the gas for performance and smooth strong ride
if you happen to kno good custom tunes for the edge plz share

i have a CAI and Edge and i do notice it running lean,, once i saw black some out the exhaust and the exhaust tips go black and the throttle body gets gummed up pretty fast.. ld like to know how to fix this some how.. gas is to much money to be wasting it
ok kingranch, with the 2001, you should be fine, as you have the 2 valve 5.4, no worries... tuning wise, i am limited in my knowledge, but, it is overwhelmingly agreed upon on this site that custom tunes by Mike Troyer are the very best, performance-wise. The wait is several months, however, as i last recall...
you may also want to consider doing some exhaust work as well. tell us what level you want to take your performance to, and we'll let you know what you can do.
I will say though, that I strongly recommend exhaust work, and possibly longtube headers, (preferably dynatech) if you are really looking to increase performance. keep in mind that these components work together as a system, and you will notice much greater gain with these components in conjunction than you would with just one.
