heres a link to a post with a couple of peope that posted tehre best settings for the edge. I think that is a bit to high for shift points but thats just IMHO. It might do you some good to read this post and see what they are using. The 5.4 builds a ton of torque low and if you run it to high you will lose that ability. After a point it does no good. I even see this in my 4.6. I lose power at about 5200 and it does no good to keep going so that is where i shift.

Asuming there are no codes set, you may have a problem with the mass air meter or the PCM programming being lean.
The only way to tell is have a dealer tech look at this parameter for being in limits or near the edge of the limits.
If this is found, the only way is to determine if there is a problem with the air meter or a reprogram solution to the PCM, assuming there is no other issue.
It's a lot like a carb that has it's needles adjusted to lean. The motor has a hard time igniting the mix the same everytime every cylinder for smoothness.
A rich condition would tend to make the motor role some if the OX senors didn't correct enough.
Again, the only way to see this is by using test equipment and addressing the parameters for observation and compairing to specs.

It is funny that the part about power dropping off at a certain rpm didn't register. There is no use i killing a perfectly good truck that is for sure!
