P1000 error

How long does it take a computer to reset and check itself. I got my truck smoged the otehr day and i had a p1000 so they wouldn't pass it. I know why i have it. I returned my truck back to stock from my edge so it would pass. Well thats why i failed. Imagine that???? LOL Anyways i want to know if there is any type of driving or anyhting i can do to make it reset itself and get me in the clear to pass smog???

1. disconnect the bat for 15-20 min reconnect (clears comp)

2. go to napa,kragen,autozone what ever and ask for a bottle of Guaranteed to pass
(and yes that is what it is called) put it in on a FULL TANK OF FULE run it out and fill it back up

3. take it to get it smogged

worked every time for me

Brice

Hi TT;

Don't put dat chit in yer tank - you do proper maintenance, so ya don't need the 'pass-in-a bottle' LOL!

Here's a couple links fer ya:

So - several drive cycles - depending ... could take a little while...

Good luck

I already "passes". And thats funny. Im from out of state and only need it t odrive on a military base. So i decided to take my truck to one that offered free retests so that i would be able to see what i would bneed to fix and then fix it rather than dumping a ton of money into theings that I thought i would have to change. Like intake and exhast as i dont have the CARB stickers for them. Anyways i passed everything including the emmisions with an incompleate exhast. LOL The only thing i didn't pass was the computer test cuase of the p1000 and i have put almost 170 miles on it and it still hasn't gone away. What can i do in my driving to help the comp reset?

The 98 - Under the dash in the fuse block - middle row 2nd fuse up from the bottom . Should be a 5amp Orange - Pull it and re-install ..

No more P1000

A rack of beers.... Thats what we call it. Anyways how does pulling a fuse help that. Wouldn't a cut of power to something cuase it to take more time to reset?
