P1455 Code

Hey fellas,

I have a '97 Expy w/ a 5.4 and about 190K on the ticker. Lately it has been dying while at a stop sign or light so i changed the fuel filter (needed it anyway), checked the PCV valve and checked for any cracked vaccum lines. I found no cracks and the PCV valve had a good vacuum. Now the Check Engine light came on and the code is P1455. I looked it up and it is something w/ the emissions control or something. Anyway... what is the most common cause for the engine to throw the code and what is the best way to fix it? And could this code be part of why the engine will die?

Thanks,

Ed

Thanks jbrew! Can this also make the engine stall at idle? And where is that vent valve located exactly?

Yea, see that hose that plugs into the back of #9 - Unplug it temporarily until you get a new solenoid if you choose - mines been unplugged for years - the EVAP won't run and doesn't effect your vehicle - I have to replace my canister - but they don't make mine anymore according to the TSB from Ford.

Don't forget to reboot the computer after you disconnect the hose

Thanks again jbrew! I will just unplugg the hose. Can u tell me where on the vehicle it is located? It looks like it is close to the fuel tank. And a reboot can be done by disconnecting the battery for a few mins.?

Thanks,

Ed

Right above the rear axle is the duel charcoal canister - in the frame rail. Reach behind , twist that filter hose - the filter and hose should come off the solenoid.

15 minutes on the battery..

BTW , the line looks like this unplugged -

The end with the red circle deal in the middle is what your disconnecting
