Engine shutting off?

Ok, so i have searched everywhere on this site, i may have overlooked it, but i havent found a problem similar to mine unfortunately...so i need some help!...Its an 98 f150 4.2...with prob close to 40k on the rebuilt block...odometer reads 240,000...so its been a good truck...

This morning it started kinda rough, didnt think anything of it because i left the AC on. I get to work, and again it started rough, but immediately went to normal. Im a superintendent, so i do a lot of starting and stopping in my neighborhood. The next time i went to start the truck, it would barely idle...shook real bad. I have had the vaccum leaks before and have fixed them right away...and actually made my own elbow on the front of the intake so that it doesnt keep sucking a hole in it...it just didnt seem like a vaccum leak, but i may be wrong...i continued to try to start the truck, and it wouldnt even rev up with throttle, thats why i dont think its vaccum...After numerous attempts, the truck just turns over now, no fire...Please help...Im not a guru, but can manage my way around, so any advice is welcome...

My next step will be clean the MAF...the fuel filter is about 10-11 months old...the air filter has about 10k miles on it...Im praying i dont have to drop the tank and swap the pump...

I have not been able to check the codes...i dont know anyone with a reader that could loan it to me...any suggestions?

Can you hear the fuel pump prime when you turn the key?
