im looking to possibly swap out my 4.6 for a 5.4 and wandered if any one knew exactly what it takes to do. if i need to swap out my computer, motormounts etc... any input would be great. also will the tranny from my 4.6 work??

 

Now your talking. I wanted to suggest that idea in your other thread but didn't know how attached you were to the 4.6. I had a '98 4.6 and it was a great truck but my needs changed and I went for a 5.4 Screw; Wow what a difference the PI 5.4 with 3:73 gears made. Do a search on the swap, all the info is here.

 

i found all the info. for the swap on here, i appreciate the help. if i do decide to just do the heads from an 01 etc... will this affect the computer?? i was also considering buying performance cams and installing them on the new heads before installation. as for gears i plan on doing 4:11's becuase of the fact that my truck has a small lift and 285's. im looking to spend in the price range of $1,000 so hopefully heads, cams, power programer, gears, and some intake mods will give me the power im looking for.
