i called and

whole rear end 3.55 $500.00
rebuilt from 2.73 3.55 $800.00
new TRANS $1000 FOR a zf s5-42
rebuild mine $1500
and a tailgate (i aint got one) $250.00

I think a grand for a ZF5 is probably a good deal. I would do just that right now and see how it runs with the 2.73's. I hope someone can jump in here and tell us what is involved with making the Mazda to a ZF swap.

Yea , I gotta great place to find used ones - type in your zip and they find one close to the house for yuh - if one can be had .. They give yuh a list to choose from .

You want a used ?

found a rearend 3.55 for 175.00
and still lookin for that trans

ok new today i found someone to redo my rear end for FREE long lost friend of a friend he is a mechanic and said a case of beer and a sandwitch he would do it.....but someone on here said that 3.55's in 5th gear i would be turnin 2800 rpm at 60 mph is that true??? if so is there something like a 3.40 or 3.30 i could go with??? he said a 3.08 would a waste of time from the 2.73

Try 1800, not 2800. 4th will be about 2500.
