Adding New Fuel Pump Wiring

Guys,
I'm about to add my new fuel pump and controller. I want to run heavier wiring from the controller directly to the pump. How does the wire pass through the top of the tank? Is there a way to easily run new wiring through the lid into the tank to the new pump? I would rather not wire it to the small stock wiring if there is a way around it. I have not removed the tank to see how it looks yet. Want to have my setup planned out and ready to go once I remove the tank? Is there an easy way to run heavy wire through the top of the tank directly in to the new pump?
Any one have pictures or anything of what it looks like?

I dont have a picture on hand, but I drilled out the stock wires going to the basket and installed larger wire. Then I used a gas safe sealer to seal off where air might pass through.

I was wondering if that would be the only option. I wasn't sure if there was a way to pass a harness through it or something. If I remember right, they are more or less riveted through or something. I don't see where a fuel safe sealer would be a problem. Seems like it would be air tight enough and not let anything slosh out. Wish I could come up with a nice neat way to pass them through....without some cheap connector that will lose the power I was trying to make up for.

You don't need to change any wiring, and any attempt to do so could create a serious danger inside the gas tank.
