Changed oil, now wont start

I just changed the oil in my 92 F150 this morning. Now it wont start. In the past I was using regular Castrol 10w30. But i decided to start using Amsoil synthetic 10w30. Could the synthetic oil be messing up the oil pressure? And if so what do i do, drain it and put regular oil back in?

Changing oil has never caused a vehicle not to start in the 50 or so years I have been around....Look for a connector or something you knocked loose in the process....

There is no way simply changing your oil will keep your motor from starting. You had to have unknowingly knocked something loose or out of wack. Go back and inspect the general vicinity of where you were working for something loose or out of place.

Gots any gas in that thang? LOL!

My default position: " the Edge did it "

ok ok ... were ya doing anything else, any other maintenance in addition to an oil change? Possibly a coincidence - check fueling & spark?

Good luck - please let us know - thanks

i was goona say if he switched to a real thick oil it might make cranking a little harder but... he kept the same weight.

do the 1992's have a fuel cut-out switch like the new ones????? Perhaps something tripped the switch when you were working on it.

Otherwise, I'd check all the fuses... maybe the fuel pump fuse burnt out.

And I agree - has to be either operator error or a coincidence... changing oil didn't cause it. Did you do any other maintenance at the same time????

Try This

I dont know if this could be it or not but it is worth a try:

One time I had a car towed and the angle that it was raised at caused the fuel shut off switch to engage. It is designed this way in case you wreck and the vehicle overturns the fuel will stop flowing to prevent a fire. Maybe when you raised it up (if you did) the angle was too great and possibly tripped this switch. If you read your owners manual it should tell you where the switch is and all you have to do is push the button.

It is worth a try I guess.

GOOD LUCK!
