Good news / bad news
For those that don't know, I just bought a 2000 F150 5.4 Triton with 272k miles.
I had a code 0171 and 0174. After checking for leaks in the PCV elbows, checking the fuel filter, and everything I could think of, I finally decided to go back to basics. When I opened the air filter, I found the problem. The little cone had come off the front of the filter. So, that is the good news.
The (potentially) bad news is that I don't know how long the filter was bypassed. The intake sensor looks clean, as do the insides. But, that doesn't necessarily mean much.
What preventative measures do I need to take?
