Question Cleaning a 07 throttle body

When I had my 97 F150 I use to clean the throttle body every 3rd (9000 miles) oil change. With the newer models the TB is controlled by the computer. How can I operate the butterfly to clean behind it and where it seats?

That's pretty much it^. You can rig up a switch on a battery to do it but it's alot of trouble for nothing. You'd need a plug that is the same as the one to the t-body. I'm no engineer, but at least in the 5.4 3 valves, there is a charge motion control valve (CMCV) system that would help keep the carbon at bay. I'm not 100% sure how or what they are for, I just installed them at the factory. They look to be a secondary set of individual cylinder throttle bodies, or like a secondary on a carb. I guess it is supposed to help in deceleration. Anyways, maybe clean the t-body every 75k miles or so and leave the blade in position, just remove the t-body and spray clean. Not to criticize, but you have a looooooooonnnnnnggggg time before you have to worry about this, kinda putting the cart before the horse. Go out and spend the time driving her.

My bad, just read that you have a 4.2, CMCV system need not apply here, but all the rest does.

Low-end torque. Think "variable intake runners" concept.
