2005 4.6 "clicking"

Hey everyone, was wondering if someone could shed some insight:

Today I started my truck in the morning and turned on the heat because it was fairly chilly. I was doing a few things outseid of my truck while it warmed up and noticed the engine area had a noticable "clicking" sound every 15-30 seconds or so.

I'm guessing it has something to do with the heat because I've never heard this before when my truck is just idling with no heat or AC on.

Anyone have any idea if something it starting to go wrong, or is it normal for it to click?

Watch the A/C compressor - I'm thinking the clutch is engaging and disengaging.

DING! DING! DING! Winner! If you have the controls set to "defrost" or "mix" then the compressor cycles to aid in clearing the windshield.

Now that I think of it you guys could be right! I don't remember if I had it on defrost or mix, but I do remember that morning that the front windshield had some condensation on it, so it is quite possible I did turn on the defrost.

I'll definatly check it out tommrow morning by just turning the heat onto feet or head when I start up the truck and listen for the clicking. If no clicking, then you guys were absolutly right! Thanks guys
