DPFE sensor

I have a 2001 F-150 with a 4.6L and 85,000 miles. I have narrowed down my engine check light problem to what I think is the DPFE sensor. The problem is after contacting a discount Ford part supplier they sent me a picture of the DPFE sensor for the correct engine and year but their picture shows it located on the drivers side of the manifold just by the intake and throttle body. This was my concern since my Haynes manual shows it in the same place. I believe that mine is located on the drivers side on the firewall.

Does anyone know a part number or what I can do to get the proper part?

The discount Ford parts dealer I am working with is y2k ford parts in Seattle.

Thanks

Doug S.

Theres three kinds - two of them in the spot Ford told you - either plastic or Aluminum.

The Dpfe you speak of , I don't have a picture of , but I know what your talking about.

It's a small deal not even half the size of the one Ford may have sent you.. Right?

I'll look for a pic -

Doug , post the part number - I may be able to find it some where . I can't find that one one any of my lists. I know what one you refering to tho. I've seen pics of it floating around from time to time..

The Part # is on the top of your old sensor.

Anyone out there track down that DPFE before ? It's that real tiny type in some 4.6 (2001) motors.

The part number on the old DPFE is completely different then the one shown but it sure looks like the right part. When I do a part search in Y2K ford parts with the numebr on the top of the old sensor it comes back with nothing.

Any idea on this?

Thanks again.

That's a Dearborn Part. The number in the middle is type , that won't change. Theres a TSB on the
9J460. Actually theres two, one in 2001 that was superceded in 04..

I don't have them and I don't really feel like searching them out right now , but if you would like some info with this sensor head over to Warrenty Processing, scroll about half way down if you have a basic computer , that should put it right in front of you.-

Just tell any dealership that you have a 9J460 and they will cross it for you - the part will come as a 9J460. You will receive the latest update and the numbers will vary only on the other sides of the dashes.

You should be able to land the right part now , Good Luck

Okay, new to the forums and joined because of the many solutions I'm able to find here. I have a 2001 F-150 4.6 L and today my truck started hesitating so off to Ford and the auto parts store. Bought the DPFE sensor and some cleaning solution and gaskets to clean the throttle body. Boy was it gunky! Got it back together and took for a test drive. Now after all this work I'm a little disappointed because it still is hesitating. Could it be the injectors? Anyone have any ideas what I can do next?

Thanks,
Dave

Who has the name of the Ebay vendor so I can buy me a DPFE or 2. I think he has Motocrafts for like 25 bucks. I like to stock up on items like this for future use.
