actually all the ambulance companies I've worked with have stayed with ford parts and brought the damn things to the dealer for almost everything... I won't say all of them do, but all of them I've worked with do... as far as batteries...

motorcraft is expensive... almost as expensive as the gel type deep cycle batteries that are much more reliable and have a 1 in a million chance of having a bad cell condition.

My local Batteries Plus does quite a business selling Optimas to the ambulance companies in my area.

Motorcraft

Yeah, after thining about it I will replace my battery with another motorcraft. The one in the truck now is pushing five years. I will just upgrade to the biggest one I can get with the most CCA.

I have replaced all dead batteries with interstates and have never had any trouble with them. (Except when I had to put a battery in a $350 ford escort I bought in college. WalMart battery served that beater very well)

my battery died earlier this year and it was 8 years old to the month my truck was built.

I was going to get a motorcraft but since i was at work when it died i just put a Cat battery in it. 880CCA, this should hold up. i got it at cost but, over the counter it would cost over $120.

Johnson Controls makes Motorcraft, Duralast (Autozone) and Interstate batteries. If you buy any of those, you are buying the same battery. Exide makes Autolite (Kragen/Checker/Shucks) and a couple others and they are crap. My stock battery finally gave in to the AZ heat - 6 years is dang good for a stock battery here. Replaced it with a Duralast.
