There is a tool set called the Sidewinder that has a sliding lock at the end that when engage puts a metal lock on the socket so the socket wont come off the end of the ratchet drive. Probably other styles out there. The set I have is a 3/8" drive, and more than strong enough to deal with spark plugs. However, I haven't touched the plugs on my ford yet, and not looking forward to it either but it is about time they got changed with about 58,000 miles on them.
