Clean that TB up good , like said above - ports ,Injector's - everything on the inside. It should look like this on the inside. -

AND, don't forget the MAF sensor and put a fresh air filter in her- heres how to clean the MAF and Throttle Body if you don't know -

There's a little more to it towards getting the MPG's out of her and at the same time enhancing performance - like a fresh set of coil pacs or COP's whatever the case may be , The right plugs (OEM Motorcraft), Intake , Cat back, Under drive pulleys , E- fans and even 4.10's depending on your commute.
Everything has to jive somewhat ..
But For the thread starter , just cleaning her up a bit and replacing the normal ware and tare items that can deprive economy ,performance and overall enjoyability is a good place to start.

I tried to pull a trailer the other day and could only run like 65MPH and got like 8-9 MPG. .......
if it is a travel trailer and the weight is around 6000# or more, then that mpg is about as good as it gets. a box type trailers has poor areodynamics and will kill power and mpg.
