Update on my performance

As some of you may know, a few weeks ago I posted a thread about how my 4.6 has been feelin a bit sluggish. Well I haven't really had a lot of time to mess with it but I put a can of seafoam in my tank. It really helped out a lot but at WOT, it will be a little sluggish off the line until around 2k rpm's, then it takes off, then after it shifts and drops down under 1800rpms it chokes for a second until the RPM's get back up. I wish it would always feel like it does at 2k rpm's but it doesn't. Should I run another fuel system cleaner through it to get any remaining gunk left in the system or what? I don't want to change my fuel filter until I know I'm done with the additives.

***still haven't gotten my 2 cats gutted, hopefully that will free up some power***

clean the IAC or replace it. on decel the throttle plate closes and the IAC opens all the way up and ever vacume tube is put under most stress cause the engine is sucking from every source it can to get air.

Hrmm....Ive cleaned the IAC a few times before but I don't know how effective it was. I just took it off and sprayed a bunch of TB cleaner in the 2 ports then put a dab of WD-40 in it to lube it. Is there a way to give it a "deep cleaning?"

Thanks buddy

First you use a cleaner (brake parts cleaner or carb cleaner will work) You need compressed air to clean her up good.

After dumping cleaner in the two ports - use a soft brush inside to clean it quickly , them dump the cleaner and blow it dry.

Use WD40 or equivalent - spray the two ports good and work the mechanism back and forth - you'll feel that it gets easier to move quickly - dry it one more time and your good to go.
