PO401 code

A while back I had a question on here about my 2001 F-150 4.6 L with 86,000 miles which has the check engine light on. I had the codes checked at Checker Auto and it showed PO401 low EGR flow. I replaced the EGR with no change and cleaned out the ports in the throttle body. Now I assume that it is the DPFE but I am told that the part at Checker is about $100.00 and it could not be returned after being installed.

The truck seems sluggish and sometimes the idle varies like there is a vacume leak but I can't find any.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Doug S.

More than likely it is your DPFE sensor. Have you took it off to see if the rubber hoses are stopped up? There's an updated sensor that's only available from Ford that corrects most of the problems associated with the old DPFE sensors. Not sure on the price of the new one, but you won't find anywhere but Ford.
