Serpentine belt removal

Hey everyone, I have an 03 Supercrew FX4 with 5.4L and I'm looking at changing the serpentine belt soon. I have never changed a serpentine belt, but a couple of friends said it was easy and would assist me. I know I do not need to remove anything to get the belt off, but what is up with the bracket on the passenger side that goes over one of the pulleys. It looks like from my angle that it needs to be removed. Any tips or hints would be appreciated. Thank you.

Austin

Yea, that's a radiator hose bracket . Heres a tip for yuh - use that bracket to hold the braker bar onnce tension is removed when installing and removing the belt.

It's pretty easy , it shows you how the belt goes under the hood - there should be an illustration of it..

Good Luck

You can change the belt out in less than 5 minutes. I usually just go to Autozone and borrow their breaker bar kit (made for removing the belts). Just follow the diagram on the fan shroud to route the new one. Unless you need someone to hold your beer, you won't need any help.

you can just slip a piece of pipe over the ratchet. ive got a 2 foot piece of gas pipe that has worked wonders. i remember first time i got a belt changed.49$ at jiffy lube and that was 9 years ago. what a rip off
