How to reset the PCM

Guys,
I have an 01 screw 5.4L engine and I need to reset the PCM how are you guys achivieng a full PCM reset?

I think you disconnect the (-) battery cable and touch it to the (+) but I could be wrong so don't do it 'til Jbrew or bluegrass chimes in.

Disconnect the battery ground cable for 5 minutes.

It clears all codes and erases any adaptive programming, so it will relearn everything from scratch.

Re-booting also sets a code P1000 with 'no' check engine lamp until all self testing is complete.
Many code readers don't show the 1000 code. It cannot/cancelled or cleared by any known method, not oven by a dealer until enough drive cycle/s causes all the tests to be run and pass.
If going for emmissions testing and the method used looks at all the PID flags, it will see one or more have not completed and auto fail just on that basis, if local law dictates.
Why are we doing a re-boot?
