Question Need help desperately

When you press the accelerator slightly, it hesitates, likes spits and sputters, or when doing 40 mph, when you keep your foot on the pedal slightly, it will shake and hesitate. Does not matter whether it is hot or cold. If you are in traffic, stop, and go, sometimes causes it to stall. (When you accelerate then take your foot off the gas quickly). Any ideas? I pulled the codes and got a P0104. Took out the MAF, cleaned it with elec. contact cleaner, was good for a couple days and now it is back.

Unless you got some bad gas, that should not be it then. Though, as easy and cheap as it is to change it, I think I would do that first. Are you running anytype of oiled air filter? Such as K&N?

It is an Airraid. Cleaned it twice and made extra sure not to over oil it the second time.

If cleaning the MAF worked for a couple of days, then clean it again, see what happens. If it helps, but then returns, I would think it is catching oil from the filter.

Sounds like a low grade misfire - most comin type miss when the COP's are getting weak is @ shift into OD ..

If the EGR popet valve was malfuntioning - MIL would be set -PO406..

Watch for your check engine light to blink at you - A blinker indicates your misfire monitor has finally picked up the weak COP/Misfire - code is set and saved.

You can hurry the process along by putting the excelerator to the floor when it starts missing the next time to force a MIL - or help one appear.

Rebooting now is a good idea as well - Your PCM will re-test and reset fuel trims and trans tables ..

Would a clogged fuel filter give a lean on one side?

upon further investigation. I started pulling the intake kit off and in do so, found a significant size crack on the underneath side of it. It was caused from the stock intake mounting bracket. Second, when I got the intake tube off, I found the TB to have what looked like burnt oil, which I suspect most came from the air filter. Once I have the crack repaired and a metal patch put over to protect it from the stock mounting bracking, and get this back together I will post the results. I also took the TB off and cleaned it with TB cleaner from Pep Boys. Also cleaning the MAF before reinstalling.

Thanks to all for the input. If anyone else has some comments or ideas in case this does not solve it, please post.

Just an update. I just towed about 4500 lbs worth of toys for 500 miles and did not have any further issues described in my original post. Everything is great and thanks again for the help.
