fuel filter replacement 2003 f-150

I want to change my fuel filter on my truck. By looking at I have a hairpin clip coming from the fuel tank to the filter. From the filter to the engine I have the clamp that would need the special tool to take off. With the hair pin clip I just have to pinch the sides together to release the pin and seperate from the body correct? With the other side I will need to remove the safety clamp and use the special tool to remove the line correct? Does this sound correct?

It is one of those white hairpin clips on the inlet. When you pull that off does the line come right off or do you have to fanagle it?

pull it straight out, the line will slide right off. i know it looks like a cheap setup that would burst under pressure, but those clips work well.

I have a 2002 and I needed the tool to get my fuel filter off. I bought the tool at Advance Auto parts for like $3.00 and it took me all of 5 minutes to change the fuel filter. My filter had the clips that pop up off the line also but then you need the tool to slide down the line to release it from the filter. Good luck .
