After looking around (aka killing time at work) about a flicking battery light on a 00 4.6 I came across this pic:

From the looks in the pic the tensioner should always be tight up against the belt above the "serpentine tool" marking. This is not what I recall seeing under the hood a few days ago. If the tensioner is out in the middle of nowhere, this would indicate a bad tensioner spring, correct?

Disregard...my memory and reality are two different things...maybe my gf was right, I'm losing it.
Anyways the tensioner was tight...the battery was sweating like a pig after a 4 mile drive and it's off to the parts store for an alternator, belt and maybe a battery.
