Scan Gauge II intersting new feature

I've been looking for a unit I can plug into the OBDII that will give me fuel averages, tranny temp, coolant temp, oil temp an TC slippage. The Edge has a lot of useful information it can read out but its very expensive if you don't want it for the canned software. The Dashhawk reads everything you could ever want and more but its to dam big (in my opinion) and still expensive.

I just called the people that make ScanGauge II to find out if they can measure anything other than what they currently list. Talked to one of the techs out there (who ones a f150) and he said they are getting ready to come out with some neat updates. Basically you will be able to add codes to your SGII that will access information for your particular vehicle. As in, I want to measure tranny temp for '07 f150, then type in XXXXX and that is flashed into the memory of your unit.

So, for ~$150 I will be able to get a small unit that does all the fuel averaging stuff (nice) as well as read every other measurement possible from the OBDII that I want Its not available yet, but he said it would be in the next few weeks. I'll most likely buy one when this feature comes online.

Just thought I'd pass along.

Very interesting!! Post up the results when you get it.

I'm not interested in getting an Edge or Live Wire, fixin to order the Xcal II from Troyer and I've been wondering the same thing; want some real-time data but not some large device.

Let us know what your results are..

That is freakin' awesome news!

I've been wanting to get to get a Scangauge II, but haven't solely because it doesn't read tranny temps. I've always said that if it did read TFT, then I'd be all over it. Please keep us posted on when this becomes a reality. Thanks for the post.

Hi.

Thanks for that update.

I was going to ask them for more info on the 10 extra user commands that the unit can accept; that manual is a little sparse on that functionality besides mentioning the extensible functions exist.

As it is, the unit is great; I simply love the mpg, TPS, trip and IAT functions.

Best place for me to mount was on the steering column shroud. Does not hide any gauges (FX4 cluster) and is in natural line-of-sight.

I'll be checking their website often now to see if the new commands have been released!

Thanks again!

Cheers
Bubba
