Remote Oil Filter Suggestions

I want to get a remote oil filter for my truck and at the same time an oil cooler combo for the oil and tranny.

Are there any suggestions for what type of remote filter kit and will the stock Motorcraft filter for the 4.6L fit the typical kit that runs the PH8?

Here's a sandwich adapter I bought from Sean Hyland Motorsports. I have a typical four pass cooler to attach to it. I still have not found a mounting location I like for the cooler. As suggested, Summit has alot to choose from.

Yep, placement is a whole 'nuther story.

There is a spot between the drivers side frame rail and rocker panel that has enough space, but it would require shielding from road debris -not the best air flow. Another possibility would be between the frame rails under the radiator. Neither of these is ideal, and both would require some sort of bracketry.

Would putting on a remote filter void the warranty?

If you didn't get it tight and after all the oil leaked out they probably wouldn't replace your engine under warrentee. Otherwise if it isn't related to your remote it shouldn't be a big deal, if it bothers you it might be a good idea to ask the dealer first. Some dealers may even put it on for you and it not let you keep your warrentee on it too.

When you buy your remote oil cooler, make sure it has a thermostat on it. You can over cool oil and the results will be sludged up engine, especially in the winter. The same goes for the transmission fluid.
