DPFE sensor ?
DPFE sensor ?
ok i give
what is a DPFE sensor and where is it on the 97 4.6L and how can i check it to see if it is what makes the shuddering in this F150 ? got a pic of one ? what does it do and how does it work ? i have a full shop with a four arm vehicle lift and all so i can do whatever, if i know what it is
can i tell if its the tranny or the DPFE or spark boots or whatever by when it shudders ? or ?
thanks

it does EGR monitoring, do a search if you wanna know a lot more about it.
location, drivers side of intake plenum, just lower than the throttle body and pretty close to it actually, probably half hidden by that 4.6 triton plastic cover.
its probably aluminum on yours.
it will have 2 hoses on the bottom and one wiring harness plugged into it horizontally.
shuddering for me usually is misfires, i have moisture issues on a few plugs. shuddering under a load at any speed and idle i assume?

ok good info and good pics, awesome
i dont know when it shudders actually
i actually havent driven the truck since before it started shuddering
so i have no clue
but he says it shudders and that he thinks its the tranny doing it, as do most other ppl that have this problem/issue even though commonly it turns out to not be in the tranny from what i have read so far anyways.
so....
it has 160k miles on it and the 4r70w trans
how could i isolate the DPFE or ignition system, or the trans causing the shudder in this truck ?
thanks for anything else

Is the "Check Engine" light on by chance ?
Or has it blinked at all ? Does it work? When the ignitions in the run position - truck not running , is the light on then ?

as i said my misfire usually causes shuddering. you should find out when it shudders for us. idle, accel, at certain rpm? if its at idle its probably the IAC is dirty
lol nice question
well i dont know if the light works or not but it has never been on ever that i know of and i have never seen it myself or heard that it ever came on either
i dont knwo if the light is on with key in run ill have to go and check on that
lol
anyways i put the tranny pan back on and with a new ford reusable gasket and the leak issues are solved finally and i made him go and get mercon V for it and he did and we put that in it and i drove it and its doing perfectly fine no issues but i only kept it in town 40 and below mph and i was keeping it out of OD at the shifter pushbutton
so i dunno
hum
thanks again

First yes turn the ignition on - to run , you should see an amber check engine light. If not - You need to fix that before you go any further - that's easy enough.
Do this only if your check engine light is indeed working . Pull the Neg cable off the battery - then the pos . Go over to your PDB and pull fuse 24 (green 30 MAXI)
In the cab under the dash - pull fuse #29 (5amp orange mini)
Go back to the PDB and re-install the fuse (MAXI 30 Green) - Go back to the cab and re-install that 5 amp fuse .
Reconnect your battery -POSITIVE cable first .
Start the truck and let it retest and reset and don't mess with the trans for awhile
