95 302 wont start unless primed

95 fuel injected 302 wont start unless primed. it has pressure at the fuel rail. no gauge but shoots 4-5 foot stream when cranking. after pouring gas down the tb it starts and runs fine. it got progressively worse meaning it would start fewer and fewer times unless primed until now it wont start without priming. it runs fine when started. except the power booster for the brakes doesnt hold a vacume and causes a high idle when it hisses. i have a junkyard dog booster replacement but havent installed it yet. have replaced the fuel pump relay. it went 2 days with out a problem (while it was intermitent). doubt orielly will exchange but havent. anybody have an idea?

Get a gauge. How old is the fuel filter?

about the fuel filter; i changed the one on the bottom of the tank diverter on the left frame rail that is just before the high pressure fuel pump, a couple months ago. there is a fuel bowl that unscrews and has a dounut shaped filter. anyone replacing this beware seating the large o-ring is dificult. is there another?

Sears sells a good fuel pressure gauge for less than $30, IIRC.

There should be only 1 filter, but it's possible that a previous owner installed both.
