Gas into Diesel

hello,
With the gas prices the way they are, my'79 F-350 with a 460 is opening my mind to new things. I was considering converting a gas truck to a diesel. maybe use a powerstroke?

Where could I purchase a motor like this?
Do they run on Bio Diesel? (main reason for doing this)
Will it fit in my engine bay?
Motor mounts?
Dificulty?
Cost?

Thanks alot... -Austin

Not sure where to get an engine from.
All diesel engines run on BD. There is two types of reclaimed fuel, heated vegetable oil and processed BD. All diesels can run on the good processed stuff.
I think highly it will fit.
Motor mounts shouldnt be that much of a problem if you have a welder and fab skills.
It would be a tough/expensive swap. Everything that touches that 460 needs to come out and be replaced with diesel components. Fuel, exhaust, cooling, transmission, intercooler (unless you do non-intercooled like the earlier PSD). Of course you would be required to have the control unit and wiring.

On pimp my ride, they swapped a duramax into a classic impala. Not much technical detail, but if you search the web you can find a small amount of info on the swap.

Now this may help some. This is the only info I know about diesel swaps.

Sure it can be done.. but why? Really. To save money on fuel? You will need to drive over eleventyjillion miles to save enough fuel to pay for the swap.
The way i see it is if you have an unlimited budget, don't really need to drive the truck for the months and months it will be down for the swap, then you could- a) afford to go out and buy a decent diesel truck-b) forget about it, cause you don't really need a truck anyway.
The only reason you would consider doing this is for the challange, the love of turning wrenches, and saying to yourself "I did this".
