power steering problems

ok, its been a while since i posted. so long in fact i had to re-register, been traveling alot. anyway. have been having a problem with my power steering. when i first start up, it feels slow and stiff through the steering wheel. i have no leak, already checked. my question is, how difficult is it to replace the unit? or is it easier to replace certain parts and what are they?

check your front end. make sure everything is greased and lubed up properly.check basics before start throwing parts at it. you said no leak .did you check the fluid level itself??

The problem is the intermediate shaft. Its between the steering box and the main shaft. Mine does the same. Part is back ordered forever!

And expensive!

change the fluid too

I had a service manager tell me that the steering fluid is neglected too. He advised changing it every 45-50K miles because it is susceptible to moisture.

I paid them to go ahead and change mine out using the Amsoil synthetic ATF. The fee was $25.
