not as easy as it sounds. if the fuse wont blow, they cant chase the short. hopefully today it will act up for them!

i just drove it around the parking lot for about 10 minutes...couldn't get the damn fuse to pop. i can pretty much guarantee that if i were to leave and go home with the truck, the fuse would pop!

#102....ignition swith power




tech finally got the truck to die. traced the short back to the switch itself in the column. will be installed this afternoon....AND HOPEFULLY I AM DONE WITH THIS MESS!!

guess not....installed switch, tech went to leave for a test drive, truck shut off after about 50 ft.

tech finally called ford tech hotline, and gave them a review of what he has done. tech hotline told tech to replace the new cjb....must be defective. we just installed the replacement cjb, and the truck didnt even make it out of the techs bay.

todays update: its definately in the main engine harness. now its just where. tech said he could find it, or i can order a new one and be done with it. haven't decided yet. new harness is almost $400.......

I'd install inline fuses in circuits 1040, 32, 297, 964, 3410 and 158 to isolate the circuit that's causing the short.

ill pass that on. short disappeared at the moment...at some point when he was unplugging things moving wires.

he said it was actually part of circuit 16....coils and capacitors.

Huh , are any of those wires close to the acummulator ? That will screw with your ignition system, Big -Time..

I don't think a short on circuit 16 would open fuse 102.

be that as it may, i just ordered the whole harness to play it safe. i do a lot of driving(17k since i bought it in sept '06), and dont want to get stranded somewhere.
