real quick seafoam question

2003 5.4 auto - to seafoam through the pcv, do I pull the whole pcv assembly (the part with all 3 branches) and let it suck it up through there, or just pull off the top black little hose and let it go in there?

just the hose off the pcv itself. you can do it thru your brake booster line as well. be careful with that stuff its strong half a can should do.

any advantage to doing it in one rather than the other?
Dumba$$ FNG question - to put it in the brake booster line, just pull off the white capped vacuum line coming off the brake booster?

Masonball,do what you like but i wouldn't put that chit through my motor.
Are you tryin to cheat pulling your TB elbow off by running that through it instead?
Do a few searches on seafoaming your engine

Do a search on 'Hydrolock'. Thats what can happen if you suck Seafoam to quick and too much.

use the brake booste rline:

-use a plier and pull out the line ( all this witht he truck running, it'll hesitate, but its okay!)

-use a small funnel and slowly add seafoam ( teaspoon - tablespoon amounts into the funnel...as to not letting the engine die....you'll know...just do it ssssssssssslllllllllllllllllooooooooooowwwwww)

- once done reattach the booster line and shut off the engine, come back 5-30 mins and go for a drive!

good luck. I've done this many times and NO problems with hydrolocking or the sort.

hey guys, I didn't do it. After reading your posts, I can see that it may not be a good idea. SO, like Kevin said, instead of using seafoam, I'll take it apart and clean it instead. By the way, I reinstalled my superchips 1715, and it's not idleing as bad as before, and still kicks *** on the pickup and shifts. THANKS GUYS, I'D PROBABLY BREAK MY TRUCK WITHOUT YOU!

i always pour it in through the IAC.. it cleans the IAC and the IAC will control the ammount that enters with the idle.. so its kinda like letting the motor take its own sample.

Why wouldn't you guys do it?

At 30k intervals, your Ford dealers do the same thing to the engine with basically the same thing. It's just labeled BG instead of sea foam.

I'll probably do mine at 30k if I still have the truck by then. I'll add it to my gas probably every 10 or 15k also.

I used it allot in the past - It's good stuff!! I just won't suck it thru the motor .

I used it as a solvent and prefer to dismantle and clean her up that way - I have most everything polished down to the pistons now and did some porting

It stays pretty clean- theres nowhere for the chit to stick

It works great with a heavy brush in a drill motor

I just prefer to manualy clean my TB and ports. It does a better job and you do not have to worry about adding too much and causing problems.
I have done it once to my other truck though and honestly i could not tell a difference.

ive used it twice on mine.. first time there was a noticable difference but 2nd time there was none.. its all in how u drive that determines if ur going to get carbon and gunk build up.
