Just got done chaning my oil-Mobil 1

I just got done with my oil change. I switched to Mobil 1 5w-20 synthetic and also got the Mobil 1 oil filter. Just wondering how many of you guys are running this and how many miles your running them in between oil changes.

I run it in all of our vehicles, and ran it in my Lighting and Cobra. I STILL change it at 2500-3000 miles, but I am a little obcessive compulsive about those sort of things....

Mobil 1, between 3 and 4 thousand between changes since I got it...At 130,000 miles, had the top end taken off to get to a heater hose that was under the intake manifold...Mechanic said it didn't even look like it had 20,000 miles on it, probably due to the Mobil 1.

Changing the synthetic oil at 5000K is more than fine. I plan on changing mine at 5k and rotate my tires at the same time.

I had Explorer's for the past 15 years and that's what I did...never had an engine related problem.

I've run M1 5W-20 for 9 months and 5,000 miles and analyzed the oil. A-OK and could go further. You should feel safe with 1 year or 5,000 miles. Also, I towed and operated in 4x4 mode and stop and go traffic during the oil change interval.

I prefer Castrol 5w30w 50/50 myself - 215,000 miles later , no blow by , no burn and my compresion is great!! I've always changed my oil @3000 miles . I tried waiting 5000 , never liked the way it looked comin out of there - didn't trust it..

I've heard good things about Mobil one, but Castrol has proved itself in THIS 5.4L

I switched to Mobile 1 on my second oil change. I plan on going 5k to 7500 miles between changes. Heck I am pretty sure I read that even Ford now recommends 7500 miles between oil changes with the motorcraft oil. Mobile 1 should do that easily.

What weight of M1 were you using?
I use 10W30 and get some blowby, but not a huge amount.

I used to prefer Mobil 1 filters, but now I choose either K&N or M1 oil filters, whichever is cheaper.

switched over at 3K

I just switched over to Mobil 1 in my 2007 5.4 SCREW at 3K. I will run Mobil 1 5w20 exclusively in this truck! Per owners Manual & warrantee requirements, I will be changing oil at 5K intervals. After warantee, maybe a little bit longer! I noticed almost immediately that the 5.4 was much quieter on a cold start, & I swear that I picked up a MPG or Two......

long time user

Been using Mobil 1 in everything except my tractor for about 15 years, I too use the 5K interval and rotate tires faithfully. Good time also to check pads, get a peek at shocks, etc.... I am somewhat partial to Wix filters though, they typically cost a bit more. Many moons ago I had an Amsoil dealership, and their literature goes to great lengths to explain oil filters, I feel just as confortable using the Wix- and they are easier to find for sure.

Never had an oil related failure, but have noticed occasional consumption on used vehicles that I have switched over to Mob1- sometimes it lessens after a couple of changes... sometimes not... either way I'm still a beleiver.
Hope this helps....

The problem with changing your oil every 5000 miles is, most oil filters are not made to last more than 3500 miles. So even if the oil can make it longer, the filter wont. I run mobil 1 and change it every 3000 miles and i have had no problems. If you are looking to save money, go to Wal-mart and buy the 5 quart jug of Mobile 1 and 2 additional quarts if its a 7 quart engine like mine. the 5 quart jug is around $22 i think. not bad for the best oil if you ask me
