anyone have pictures or a link to how many and where they are? Trying to find a leak, hopefully, that's causing my shaking idle. 2003 5.4 auto

Check on the pass side of engine on the valve cover and make sure the rubber pcv elbow isnt collapsed or has a hole in it.

you mean where there's three hoses stemming from the pcv, right? That elbow LOOKS ok to me.

follow that to the back if the intake and make sure its good there also. You might not be able to see it very well so you will just haveto feel it out. Usually thats is the most common one to give any trouble.

ya I can feel back there, but obviously it's impossible to see. How can I pull it to check it out?

Theres really no easy way around it. It is just a real pain in the ***. If you can have the truck running and feel back there to see if theres a change in sound for the vacumm leak. If so then you have found it. I am positive you can only get that as a whole assembly and not just the elbow. So if you do find it to be the leak then I would suggest you go and get a new one so when you take the old one off you have a good one ready.

No problem. There should be a sticker (if its still there) on the front plastic cowling in front of the radiator that may have a small diagram of the vacuum routing to the applicable parts on the engine. It will have the engine size on it and say catalyst on it also. that may help also. Let me know how it goes and also if theres anything else I can help yah out with.

cool thanks a lot man. I've been struggling with this horrible idle since I bought my truck 2 months ago. Replaced the IAC and cleaned the MAF and no change yet. I had it hooked up to a diagnostic machine at a dealer and they said everything is reading perfectly. I guess vacuum lines are the way to go for now, then port cleaning.
