Belt squeal at throttle release

Belt squeal at throttle release

My 4.6 is starting to **** me off, if i'm running at WOT when i let off the throttle at higher RPMs i get this disgusting belt squeal, anyone else had this happen? what was it? i noticed that my idlers(not tensioners) look burnt. any ideas?

I get the same thing. I would go with a Gatorback Belt if you don't like it (heard great things and a lot of people run it on this site.) Troyer sell's 'em...

it's caused by your accessories still spinning faster than your crank,

/\/\/\go with the gatorback belt like the one in the post above/\/\/\ and you'll cure your problem

Now I am pretty new to the Ford community, but I feel I know a thing or 2 about vehicles in general, so let me put my 2 cents in. It would be my suggestion that if the belt is squealing at all, it would be due to a tensioner. Of course, there are other reasons for squeals, like a bearing going bad in any one of the other components located on the front of the engine.

I can understand how a new belt would, temporarily alleviate the problem, but I am not so sure it would FIX the problem, only mask it.

I have been wrong in the past, and could be wrong now.

Its a common F-150 problem. A Gatorback belt will fix it. It is probably not a tensioner problem.
